Family of girl, 5, who choked to death on frankfurter sausage targeted by cruel trolls

The grieving family of a five-year-old girl who choked to death on a frankfurter sausage have been targeted by heartless trolls.

Little Imogen Lennon, from Canowindra in rural New South Wales, died earlier this month after a piece of her favourite snack became lodged in her throat.

She had been enjoying the treat in the back seat of her family’s car while chatting away happily when tragedy struck.

Imogen’s mum Samantha Lennon, who had been driving her daughter home from swimming lessons, leapt into action and tried to save her with the help of a passer-by.

She even raced her to hospital when it became clear that an ambulance was not going to arrive in time, but the five-year-old could not be saved.

But still vile trolls have bombarded the family with insults, claiming more could have been done to prevent Imogen’s death.

Mrs Lennon’s friend Tamara Harrison, who is raising money to help the heartbroken family, said Imogen took in “a big breath of air as she was eating and began choking”.

“Sam pulled over straight away. She is a first aid officer - her sister is also a nurse. She knew what to do in that situation. She did everything she could,” Ms Harrison told Daily Mail Australia.

“Imogen even bit her hand when she tried to get the frankfurt out of her throat.”

Ms Harrison also revealed that Imogen had been fitted with a hearing aid just a week before her death, meaning she could hear her own voice for the first time.

“She put it in, and she said ‘Is that my voice mummy?’,” Ms Harrison said.

Imogen’s funeral was held on Saturday, with the little girl laid to rest in a tiny white coffin adorned with pink flowers and cowgirl boots

The GoFundMe set up to rise money for the funeral has received more than $28,000 in donations.

“To make sense of such a tragic loss in such a way is inconceivable, there are no words that could accurately describe how shattered Imogen‘s family are,” Ms Harrison wrote on the fundraiser.

”It is impossible to imagine life without Imogen.

“The burden of trying to find the money to pay for Imogen‘s final resting place and a fitting celebration of her short life is a burden that I would like to remove for this family, while they deal with such an unthinkable tragedy.”
